About Chatswood Dental Associates
For nearly three decades, Chatswood Dental Associates has been part of the Chatswood community, caring for patients through every stage of life, from a child’s first check-up to complex restorative treatment later on.
Our History
Chatswood Dental Associates traces its roots back to Dr Frank Harding’s original Chatswood surgery. In 1999, Dr Poe Lim, who trained at the University of Sydney and spent his early career practising in Cowra in the Central Tablelands, took over the practice as Dr Harding retired.
Poe returned to Sydney after more than eight years in Cowra, and Dr Harding’s retirement gave him the opportunity to establish himself again in the city where he trained. That handover marked the beginning of the practice as it exists today, and it’s a history we’re proud to continue.
Since then, the practice has grown to include Dr Gautam Sridhar, who joined in 2010, along with a team of hygienists and support staff who help care for our patients each day.
Our Team
Our clinical team is led by two dentists.
Poe has undertaken additional training in laser-assisted dentistry, dental implants and neuromuscular dentistry. Gautam has additional training and experience in endodontics, periodontics and implant dentistry. Together, they bring complementary clinical interests to the practice, allowing many patients to receive a wide range of dental care in one location.
Qualifications and Professional Development
Both of our dentists continue to build on their knowledge through further education and professional involvement.
Poe holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Honours) from the University of Sydney and completed advanced training in neuromuscular dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, including Mastering Neuromuscular Occlusion and Comprehensive Aesthetic Reconstruction. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, a member of the Australian Dental Association, and previously served as President of the Northern Suburbs Dental Study Group.
Gautam holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Honours) from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Certificate in Dentistry from the University of Adelaide. He serves as a reviewer for the Health Care Complaints Commission, is a Peer Advisor for Experien Insurance Services, provides dental advice in medico-legal matters, and is a member of several professional dental organisations.
Our Philosophy
Our approach is grounded in considering the whole person, not just the tooth in front of us.
Poe’s interest in neuromuscular dentistry grew from seeing patients present with jaw pain, headaches and bite-related concerns that were not always addressed through conventional dental treatment. That experience led him to pursue further training in bite function and jaw mechanics.
The same thinking shapes how we care for anxious and nervous patients. Rather than referring people elsewhere when a procedure feels overwhelming, we offer in-house sedation options and can arrange for an accredited sedation provider to administer IV sedation for suitable patients. This allows many restorative procedures, including implants and extractions, to be completed in familiar surroundings with a team the patient already knows.
We take a similarly proactive approach with children. Myofunctional appliances may be recommended while a child is still growing to help guide jaw development and address crowding. In some cases, early intervention may reduce the complexity of orthodontic treatment later.
