In the practice, we use the advanced Philips Zoom system. If you’re considering whitening, we’d like to tell you about some of the most commonly asked questions we hear from patients.

1. How much whiter will my teeth get?
You can expect to leave our practice after an in-chair session with teeth that are several shades whiter. This will be a noticeable difference. Stains that are brown or teeth that are yellow in colour often have the best results. Please note that dental restorations like crowns and veneers will not whiten.
2. Will my session be painful?
Some patients notice their teeth are sensitive after a whitening session, while others don’t have any pain at all. To help lessen the chance of any pain, you can take an over the counter pain reliever before your treatment or right after.
3. How long does it take?
You can expect your whitening session to last about one hour. This will give the whitening gel time to get activated and the pores on your teeth a chance to open and absorb the gel.
4. How long will my results last?
Your results will likely last months to years. This all depends on how often you perform maintenance whitening on your teeth, which you can do from the comfort of your own home. Ask us about our take-home kits!
5. What happens during a Zoom session?
During a session, you’ll arrive and have a safety perimeter applied to your gum-line so that no whitening gel irritates it. Next, we’ll apply the gel and you’ll set under a blue light to activate it. You’ll rest comfortably here for roughly 40 minutes. When the light turns off, we’ll clean your teeth and you’re free to leave-with a brighter, beautiful smile.
