Can I still eat my favourite foods, such as apples, with veneers?
After making an investment in the appearance and health of your smile, it makes sense to feel protective of your new dentistry.
Porcelain veneers provide esthetic results for our patients and are generally durable. It is a good idea to treat them with a certain sensibility, keeping in mind that porcelain is not indestructible. Your natural teeth, just like your dental restorations, also require a certain level of caution. Use those same rules when considering what you can eat with your porcelain veneers.
- Avoid foods that are overly sticky or chewy.
- Don’t bite into anything excessively hard – like ice.
- Wear a nightguard if you grind your teeth at night.
- Keep your regular dental appointments.
- Brush and floss your veneers as you would your natural teeth.
Eating apples, carrots, or whatever your favourite food may be should not pose a problem. We use ultra-strong dental cement to attach your veneers to your tooth structure. Occasionally, veneers do come off because they may gradually weaken over time. Contact us right away if this occurs, so we can help.
As with natural teeth, an accident or trauma may result in damage to your veneers. Call us to schedule an appointment so that we can restore your smile.
