Principal Dentists

Dr. Poe Lim - I graduated with BDS (Hons) from Sydney University in 1990, and practiced in Cowra (in the Central Tablelands of NSW) for over 8 years.

I returned to Sydney in 1999 as my fiancée (now wife) started doctoral studies at University of New South Wales (which, as I regularly remind her, have yet to submit her thesis), and purchased Dr Frank Harding’s surgery as he had decided to retire.

I know how nervous people are about coming to the dentist, so I have decided to offer laser assisted dentistry with a Kavo KEY Laser 3, currently the only dental laser that detects and only removes decay, leaving healthy tooth. The Laser, in some cases, may reduce or eliminate the need for injections and drills for fillings.

I have always had an interest in aesthetics (creating attractive smiles) and occlusion(how people bite their teeth together), how that can cause some people to grind (sometimes breaking) their teeth, how that influences the muscles of the head and neck, and the headaches, sore shoulders and neck that can sometime be caused by problems in the occlusion. In practice, I often have patients who complain of such symptoms, and in trying to find out how I may best help them, I discovered the Las Vegas Institute for Advance Dental Studies (LVI), where Neuromuscular Dentistry is taught as part of a wholistic treatment of the mouth, not only helping with the symptoms, but also recreating an attractive smile at the same time. At LVI, I have completed both Mastering Neuromuscular Occlusion and Comprehensive Aesthetic Reconstruction (both level II courses) in early February 2005. I am a member of the Australian Dental Association and the NSW Branch of the Australian Society of Endodontology.

For recreation, I enjoy exploring places less visited, either by four wheel drive, or SCUBA diving. I also like messing around with new gadgets.

Dr. Audrey Yau - I graduated with BDS (Hons) from Sydney University in 1999. For the next 7 years, I worked in private dental practices in metro Sydney and in London.

New technology and materials are introduced to dentistry on a daily basis. It is only through continuing education in dentistry that one is able to keep up to date with the latest treatment choices & methods. Evidence based dentistry is paramount to our practice philosophy and forms the core of our practice.Towards this end, I have worked towards my Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons for 3 years, and was successful in my admission to the RACDS at the beginning of 2006. I am also a member of the Australian Dental Association.

Sydney is a beautiful city - full of sunlight! Since returning from the UK in the second half of 2006, I have been very lucky to have the opportunity to work with a great integrated team at Chatswood Dental Associates.
When I am not preoccupied with dentistry, one would find me experimenting in the kitchen or trying to take notes from the various cooking programmes, books and websites. I love working with my hands - playing music, painting, life-drawing, stone carving and the next challenge - woodwork. I like to relax with a bit of yoga, Tai Chi and being in nature.

Administration staff

Kristin McAndrew - Kristin provides guidance and direction to the team at Chatswood Dental Associates. Kristin has completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting, the Las Vegas Institute Neuromuscular Occlusion course and her Senior First Aid Certificate. She works with the Chatswood Dental Associates team to ensure the smooth running of the practice.

Kristin has completed her Certificate IV in Oral Health Education, and has recently completed the Diploma in Practice Management with the University of New England.

Kristin is constantly improving procedures at Chatswood Dental Associates to ensure excellent care for all our patients.

Dental Hygienists

Anna Noble - Anna has completed her Diploma of Dental Hygiene, Certificate of Dental Radiography, Certificate in Dental Assisting and a Diploma Hospitality Management. She enjoys working in the friendly and relaxed environment of Chatswood Dental Associates. Anna would like to undertake further education in Dental Therapy and enjoys going to the gym and walking her dog.

Noemi de Leon - Noemi has completed her Diploma of Dental Hygiene, DMD (Philippines), Certificate of Dental Radiography (Westmead) and her Certificate of Dental Education (Westmead). Noemi finds working at Chatswood Dental Associates enjoyable. She particularly likes working with a friendly team whilst providing professional care to her patients. She endeavours to undertake further education and training to increase her skills as a dental hygienist.

Dental Assistants

Elysha Bailey - Elysha joined the team at Chatswood Dental Associates towards the end of 2007, and has started her Certificate III in Dental Assisting and her Senior First Aid Certificate, which she will complete at the end of 2008. Elysha is a qualified beauty therapist with several years experience, so feel free to ask her for tips on looking good!

She enjoys working as part of a team to provide the best quality care for our patients.

Angela Henry - Angela is the newest member of the team, and has spent numerous years creating attractive and eye catching window displays for many successful retail companies. Angela possesses her Senior First Aid Certificate, and has commenced her Certificate III in Dental Assisting, which she will complete by the end of 2008. Angela has been really impressed with the warm, friendly and professional work environment at Chatswood Dental Associates.

Sedation Specialist – Dr. John Vassiliadis – Dr. John Vassiliadis MBBS FACEM, graduated from Sydney University in 1993. He is an Emergency Medicine Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and Clinical Lecturer at Sydney University. He is also a senior instructor at the Sydney Simulation Centre. He specialises in Emergency Medicine, sedation, trauma management, trauma ultrasound and toxicology.

Currently he is also a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Australian Navy Reserves and in 2005 was part of Australia's medical relief force that was sent to Indonesia after the Tsunami.

Dr. Vassiliadis performs conscious sedation at Chatswood Dental Associates.

Having worked with Dr. Vassiliadis on several occasions, we have found him great with our patients; in his capable hands, people who had previously been too afraid of dentistry can sleep through their treatment!
